HIGH LEVEL CONFERENCE ON NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR CLEAN ENERGY TRANSITION
19 October 2022
Venue: Hotel Ashok | New Delhi | Time: 10:00 – 18:30 hours IST | Mode: Hybrid (In-person and Virtual)
The International Solar Alliance (ISA), in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, is hosting a High-Level Conference on New Technologies for Clean Energy Transition on the sidelines of the Fifth Assembly of the ISA.
The conference is divided into plenary and thematic sessions. The plenary will address prominent sub-themes of the conference in a broader context, with the launch of ISA’s flagship World Solar Report. The plenary will frame the key issues around solar energy technologies, investments, and markets, to deepen understanding in subsequent thematic sessions. The conference will feature speakers from government agencies, academia, think tanks, industry, and the financial sector. Five technical panel discussions will provide perspectives from technology experts, developers, financial experts, and other stakeholders to enable thriving markets for new technologies.
The thematic sessions on the ‘New Technologies in Solar Energy’ and ‘Technology Transfer and Absorption in Solar Energy’ will focus on new technologies and applications in the solar PV and related sectors that are at the precipice of large-scale commercialisation to support the economy-wide clean energy transition, including hard-to-abate sectors. New technologies and applications such as green hydrogen and derivative fuels, E-mobility, long-duration storage for round-the-clock green electricity, floating solar PV, particularly marine solar, and emerging solar PV technologies are aimed to be the focus of the conference.
The thematic sessions on World Solar Reports will highlight the scope of the reports, the evolutions in technology, market and investment scenario through appropriate indicators and methodologies, reviewing guidelines and presenting highlights of the year. The sessions will serve as a basis for dialogue among member countries, government agencies, the private sector, research institutions and academia; enabling international collaboration vital to reach global climate goals.
The experts during the thematic technical sessions will delve into technology development, policy & regulatory support to create an innovative ecosystem for clean energy transition, catalysing private sector investment in R&D and commercialisation, government-academia-corporate linkages, and market creation for new technologies. Each session is followed by a Q & A session, which is incorporated into the agenda as a means to offer an opportunity for various stakeholders, media persons, and lead discussants present in the audience to interact with the subject experts and have their opinions/inputs considered to enhance the utility of these sessions.
